I look for light, shadows, form and textures from both nature and the world we create.   I enjoy the contrasts of place - mist rising like steam along a mountain range, finding on a seashore white dunes like freshly driven snow or boulders of coquina sculpted into fantastic shapes by water and wind.

Sometimes natural and manmade worlds interact abstractly;  there seem to be enigmatic possibilities of meaning.  At other times meaning is quite obvious or there is none in particular.  There is the image and what the viewer sees in it.

I shoot primarily in medium format black and white film.  I develop by hand and create archival giclee prints using pigmented inks.

Whether an image connects the viewer with a personal emotion or stimulates the intellect, it evokes the archetypal desire for beauty in composition or the inherent ability we have to seek out patterns, even in chaos.

My passion in photography is in exploring our world and creating unique images.  I look for beauty and hope to communicate that through my photographs.
